Defibrallator Fund Raising

The children’s fundraising earlier in the year, and support from the Rotary Group, has enabled us to purchase a second defibrillator cabinet. The defibrillator itself was donated by Bellway homes who are currently building a housing estate in the village. This has given our project a great push and shows the power of the children’s voice!

Artsmark Discover Award
As part of the Artsmark Discover Award a group of children from Year 2 and Year 4 visited Locomotion in Shildon which is a Railway Museum. We took part in a number of workshops focussing on Sea, Sand and Steam Trains. The children learned how the seaside resorts have changed over the years including the reasons why people visited, what they wore to swim in the sea and the role of the railways in transporting them to seaside resorts. Two of the children from each year group tried on bathing costumes from Victorian Times and were very surprised how much different they were to what they wear now. The children enjoyed building and decorating their own Victorian ferris wheels and looking around the museum at the different types of trains including the Royal train. The children from Year 2 also enjoyed taking part in a picture trail around the museum. The children have successfully completed the Discover Award and received a certificate from Trinity College London.
